Well let me explain…

Why am I writing this page then; “giving away the game” as they say, and opening up the web to competition who will outrank me, out write me, and out-compete me?
Why do people tell other people anyway unless something is in it for them?
The answer is simple, (apart from this just being a hobby site, and wanting to help people be see online!)…
I started a “Blogger blog”, and I applied some SEO tactics, and ranked quite well for some blogs. Something was missing though…
“What” you may ask?
Simple!… I needed my own web domain, and my own private hosting company to make the site “my own”.
Your own domain and private hosting have a “proper URL” not http://www.this-belongs-to-us/your-blog/growing-magnolias-successfully/ (does not exist BTW, so don’t go there!)
You didn’t believe me did you? OK come back again after looking at them, yes maybe?…
Maybe try growing magnolias instead then. That is if you like them flowering maybe twice a year, shedding their lovely petals all over your lawn, and collecting their leaves in the Autumn (Fall for Americans! lol)
Oh!, and please come back later, as I may actually have some stuff on here that you may at least like reading elsewhere! Hence the name “the generalist’s repository!” because you just never know what may interest you next.
This site isn’t all about SEO and “how much “DOSH DOSH” you can make “while you sleep”, nor is it about “polyphasic sleep”, or how to “justify leaving your wife” when really you are a totally in the wrong (I won’t name that person)! No!
It also isn’t about how to “Site Build It”, and how great that is, and how “content is always king”, although it does go a long way I’ll add, and certainly is “king” in some respects.
This site aims to help you to have a fun time online, being yourself, using it as a creative outlet, and contributing something useful back to people, and giving them a lift!

Evolving gives you the impression that this blog or website is changing “all on its own”!
OK then… what do I mean…
I work for a company that is “evolving” as well.
Coming to my point, what this really means is that you start off in a certain “mindset”, with fixed ideas, realisations, and expectations.
You “strike out” down this pathway, and eventually a pattern emerges.
What is this pattern?
I’ll tell you…
You start with a website talking about all kinds of topics; say you talk about your favorite hobbies, and one of them is “growing magnolias” (read this if you like and come back later, please!)
OK you check your statistics only to find that growing magnolias is in fact your best and most successful post!
You are passionate about growing magnolias, so you think “ahhh” I’ll write about growing similar plants and trees, and I’ll stop doing my page about “thermonuclear dynamics”, and instead carry on talking about my magnolias instead!
So in effect you “find your level”. You talk bout what you like, but what is also popular to the people.
You may have a handful of people who like thermonuclear dynamics, but you may well have a crowd of people who want to know about growing Magnolias instead!
Well “The Keyword Academy” tell it to you straight; they don’t romance about it, or do they tell you a load of tosh!
I was amazed by “The Keyword Academy” because they really showed me how to combine having some fun, with blogging, SEO, and hobbies all into one…
I honestly started my own website and had no visitors; DOH!
I was depressed; downhearted, low, miserable! Why?
Well I had 50 (fifty, yes fifty) blogs on Google’s “Blogger”, and other than one very very minor hit with http://mark-lawton.com/diy-lpg-conversion/ (deleted from there and re-written on here BTW), in general I may just as well have thrown my blog into the air in the middle of the uninhabited countryside, (The middle of Wales UK maybe?)!
OK so I decided to have my own website and “write stuff” so people would see it!
I searched online for days, weeks, months even!
I came across no end of ways to “get noticed online”. SEO links, and scam sites offering me “world fame” if I lose some “Dosh Dosh”, and still more dosh; Spondoolies, Sovs, Dollars, Euros, Quid, Sqidlets, or even Pounds Sterling!
I was about to waste my money down no end of trails and I thought “hang on a minute…”
Yes hang on!… this is only a hobby, I refuse to spend all this money; it isn’t a business, it is just a “hobby site”, that I want to be seen on the web, and in fact rank well on for once!
I just want the pleasure of typing into Google certain well known, and maybe not so well known “keywords”
Call me an “attention seeker” or whatever; this is just a hobby alright?
Well I found these guys Court and Mark, and because my name is Mark and I like it (I hadn’t used to, but I do now!) I thought, “ OK I’ll read this “fluff”, and see what they have to say”
So I downloaded their free e-book, read this, and then applied some of what they said (loosely I’ll add).
What happened after reading this for free?…
I actually began to index on Alexa and Google!
Wow; get over this; I was getting hundreds of visitors per day, and actually making money with my sponsors and Google AdSense!
Objective achieved… I was on the map, and “famous”, or should I say “infamous”?
Anyway I am happy that something is happening, and I have gone from 50M (million) on Alexa through to 25M, 7M, 6M, 3M, now less than 0.75 3/4 Million! and number one on Google for certain “long tail keywords”. They’ll tell you what those are! (I’m also modest too! lol)
OK now that stuff is off my chest, I am going to do some posts about some stuff you may actually want to read; but if you want to go away and read what “The Keyword Academy” have to say first, then please be sure to bookmark my site, come back to visit, sign up, comment, email me, and please read my new posts!
