Oh Dear! Germany 2, England 1 Upson scores for England (37)
- 37 ‘GOAL! ENGLAND ARE BACK IN IT! AND IT’S UPSON! He leaps like a salmon to head Gerrard’s ball into the back of the net!
Should be 2 all as goal was over the line! Swizz!
-
38 ‘ANOTHER FOR ENGLAND AMAZING! WHAT A CHIP BY LAMPARD! NO! THE REF RULES IT OUT! WHY? It’s clearly a foot over the line! Terrible, terrible decision!
-
45′+1 There goes the whistle and the boos ring out from England fans… that really was a shocking decision by the referee and his assistant… the teams head in with Germany 2-1 up at the break
Surely they have to use technology on the goal mouth a end elsewhere, like they do for tennis! Come on FIFA, wake up to 2010!
England go out by the look of it 4 – 1 Germany!
-
67 ‘GOAL! GERMANY SCORE A THIRD!
-
70 ‘GOAL! IT’S ALL OVER! GERMANY GET A FOURTH!
Germany leads England 4-1 after 75 minutes
What happened? England aren’t a team when they are together – just a collection of individuals – England’s worst ever defeat!
England’s defence was fragmented, and the Germans were fast off the mark at every twist and turn. The goals kept coming for Germany, who were unstoppable, weaving around our defence like it wasn’t there.
Breakaway goals were imminent as England had no men behind, and the ball was back to the England end in a shot, and the goal was in against England!
Too much palying through the middle, and not enough marking and defense, a lack-lustre performance, when we were hoping for better!
Is all over, england are out 4 – 1 defeat against Germany, (2 minutes extra time) – not a chance!
Yes Germany played well; England’s performance this year and ever has been the worst known.
You have to hand it to Germany who had a tight side, and played well for this game!
England below, struggle to beat Slovenia!
I have been watching the world cup; and nothing bothers me more than the drone of these the noisy plastic trumpets that have proved a hit with fans in South Africa, but not with me; and I’m sure many more people too!
Quoting below…
“I have never heard anything like this to be honest; and it is distracting from the game, and makes your head literally buzz.
You’d be better off watching it with the sound turned down and using subtitles! That is assuming that they are available for a live broadcast; are they?
“World Cup organizing committee head Danny Jordaan on Sunday did not rule out banning vuvuzelas, the noisy plastic trumpets that have proved a hit with fans in South Africa but threaten to deafen players and viewers alike. Criticism of the vuvuzelas has been almost as loud as the instruments themselves with broadcasting companies complaining the din is almost drowning out commentary.”
“DAY 3 AT THE WORLD CUP”
“Sit down, relax on Sunday and enjoy the world’s greatest sporting event as day three at the World Cup is presented in all its vibrant colors.
“We’ve tried to get some order,” Jordaan said. “We have asked for no vuvuzelas during national anthems or during stadium announcements.
I know it’s a difficult question,” he added, saying that “we’re trying to manage the best we can. “We heard from the broadcasters and individuals, and it’s something we are evaluating on an on-going base.”
Jordaan told the BBC he had to consider the option of banning the trumpets. “If there are grounds to do so, yes,” he said, asked if a ban was an option.
France captain Patrice Evra said the incessant noise was a factor in his side’s poor display in their draw with Uruguay. According to Evra: “We can’t sleep at night because of the vuvuzelas. People start playing them from 6 a.m. We can’t hear one another out on the pitch because of them.” Jordaan said: “I would prefer singing” and called on fans to chant instead.
“In the days of the struggle (against apartheid), we were singing, all through our history. It’s our ability to sing that inspired and drove the emotions.”"
There have also been complaints about the new ball design; probably not helped by the fumbled goal England let in while playing the USA on Saturday 12th June 2010.
“In England’s opening game of World Cup 2010 they were desperate to make a good start against their toughest group stage opponents and they did just that as Steven Gerrard converted after only four minutes.
However, as half-time approached a speculative effort from Fulham’s Clint Dempsey from 30-yards managed to slip through Green’s hands and over the line as the goalkeeper failed to gather the ball.
The debate will rage in the coming days as to whether Fabio Capello should stand by his decision to pick Green ahead of Joe Hart and David James, and the West Ham goalkeeper can only pray he is granted the chance to redeem himself on the global stage.”
Quoting below…
“POLOKWANE, South Africa – The infamous Jabulani World Cup ball has had goalkeepers in the tournament worrying, panicking and complaining for the past week. Now it has reduced one of them to tears.

Algeria’s Faouzi Chaouchi was the latest keeper to be impacted when he allowed a long-range strike from Slovenia’s Robert Koren to evade his grasp and produce the only goal of a 1-0 loss at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday. Chaouchi could not control his emotions after the game.
After striding through the interview zone without pausing to speak to reporters, he boarded the team bus and cried“You could see he had tears in his eyes and he could not help it,” said Algeria fan Mohammed Dahbi. “It is sad for the country but it is not his fault.
Anyone can make a mistake and unlucky things can happen with that ball.” That ball is the adidas Jabulani, and it already has sparked a storm of controversy.
The manufacturer claims it is the most accurate ball ever made, but some weird plays on the field say otherwise. Its unpredictability may have benefited the United States on Saturday night, when Clint Dempsey’s tame effort worked its way past England’s Robert Green.
In truth, both Green and Algeria’s Chaouchi should have made comfortable saves on the goals they conceded. Yet on both occasions, there was significant movement in the air once the ball had been kicked. “For sure, it is the ball,” said Algeria defender Madjid Bougherra. “You could see it moving, and once it bounced in front of him it just took off and gave a crazy bounce.”
The goal came in the 79th minute. Algeria, playing with 10 men after substitute Abdelkader Ghezzal was sent off, was trying to hang on for a draw.
But the game’s only goal appeared to have more to do with the ball than the 11 vs. 10 situation. Just ask the scorer. “Every player, if he is being honest, will tell you there is something strange about the ball,” said Koren, the Slovenia captain. “It is different to what we are used to and it gives keepers a big problem – like we saw today.”
Slovenia might be the only team in Group C without much of a problem. Certainly, there are nervous times ahead for the United States, England and Algeria. And, surely, for a certain manufacturer whose signature product is coming under ever-increasing scrutiny.
Adidas, however, defends the ball. “This ball has been around since December and been used around the world with very few comments,” Andy Harland, the developer of the ball, said in a recent interview with British television station Sky Sports News. “Teams have gone to altitude and you have seen comments in those situations.”
A skeptical public – and 32 starting goalkeepers – might take a bit more convincing”"
